BCCI panel holds hearing against Modi

New Delhi: The Cricket Board Disciplinary Committee probing the charges of financial irregularities against Lalit Modi met on Friday, with the suspended IPL commissioner being represented by his lawyer.
Modi was represented by his counsel Mehmood Abdi in the two-day hearing at a city hotel before the Committee comprising interim IPL chairman Chirayu Amin, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Arun Jaitely.
Meanwhile, Modi denied that he appeared before the panel via videoconferencing from London and said it could be the handiwork of the BCCI that a section of the media were running such stories.
"This is a direct and deliberate attempt to influence the Supreme Court which has reserved judgment in my case."
"It's the BCCI propoganda machinery at work again. In my view it is to try and influence the Honarable Supreme Court," he tweeted.
"It is completely false that Modi appeared via videoconferencing. The Disciplinary Committee hearing has been going on for some time and at no stage Modi was required to appear in person or via videoconferencing
"The appeal ch alleging the constitution of Disciplinary Committee on the ground that it was biased against Modi is pending before the Supreme Court," he added.
"Most of the time today was on the role of IMG. We cross examined BCCI's witness Paul Manning today," he said.
