BCCI Working Committee to meet on Aug 15

BCCI Working Committee to meet on Aug 15
Mumbai: In the backdrop of the World Cup-winning Indian team's dismal outing thus far in England, the Cricket Board's all-powerful working committee will have a one-day sitting on August 15 at its headquarters here.
The committee is expected to take up "routine" matters like the secretary's annual report and others prior to its AGM in September, according to BCCI sources.
The committee, headed by BCCI chief Shashank Manohar who is set to end his term of office at its AGM next month, last met on April 27 when it appointed Duncan Fletcher as the new Indian team coach for a two-year term and raised the cash incentive for the World Cup winning squad members from Rs one crore to Rs two crore.
The Indian team's performance has dipped alarmingly since then with the world's No. 1 Test team, after over a year at the top, in danger of being displaced from the top by rivals England who currently lead the four-match series 2-0.
The result of the must-win third Test, commencing at Edgbaston, Birmingham on August 10, would be known by the time the committee meets.
It would, thus, be of interest to the millions of the team's fans whether any discussion takes place about the team's display at the one-day sitting of the BCCI members.
A spate of injuries to top players, in the run-up and during the ongoing series, has severely dented the team's performance and it remains to be seen whether any views are expressed at the Won August 15C meet about this important aspect too.
