'No Pollard, Bravo we will do our best to NSW'

Chennai: New South Wales all-rounder Steven Smith feels the absence of Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo will work to their advantage when they take on Trinidad and Tobago in their Champions League T20 clash here on Wednesday.
Pollard and Bravo were part of the T&T side that made the final of the inaugural edition in 2009, but both the West Indies stars made themselves unable for selection to the home team, instead preferring to play for IPL sides.
"Obviously, Pollard and Bravo are very good players, so that's only going to help us. (But) we worry only about our own game and we'll give it our best tomorrow and make sure we'll be there at the end of the game tomorrow," Smith said at a press conference here today.
Smith also refused to believe that NSW have a thin middle order, and blamed the condition of the pitch for making a below par 135 for eight against Cape Cobras in their first group match.
But T&T will be a different opposition and Smith backed fellow all-rounder Moises Henriques to come good.
"He's a big strong boy, Henriques, and has cleared plenty of boundaries in his career," he said.
Smith said his side is better used to the conditions than T&T, who today flew in from Bangalore after their defeat to Mumbai Indians last night.
Smith, whose side plays all their group matches in here, said, "We came a couple of days earlier to acclimatise to the conditions and the pitch is pretty similar to the one we are using at the nets, so the boys are getting used to the conditions.
Smith said the team's selection panel would take a call on whether veteran Aussie pacer Stuart Clark would be included in the team at the expense of the inexperienced duo of either Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins.
"He's a very experienced bowler and has played a lot of cricket. He was a good part of our (successful) campaign in 2009 where he played a pretty key role. I am sure that if the selectors see it fit to bring him back in, they will do so."
