After injuries, rain haunts India on Eng tour

New Delhi: India's elusive search for a win on this tour continued on Sunday when the weather Gods once again had their say in the end. It was purely bad luck for Team India as England needed 11 off 7 balls with two wickets in hands just when India were on roll with two wickets in two balls and an injured Stuart Broad to come when rain intervened for the third time in the match.
Asked to bat first, Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni shared a blistering 169-run partnership for the fifth wicket to propel India to 280 for five and with some decent bowling and fielding, Indian fans all over the world would have hoped that this is India's day and with a win they can stay alive in the series, but surely luck has not been on India's side this whole tour.
First the tour was marred with a number of injuries to key players and then, when it looked that India will finally claw their way back with wins in the ODI series, rain has spoiled their party in all the four ODIs with first one being completely whitewashed, two ending in England victories and one tied, all thanks to Mr. Duckworth and Mr. Lewis.
What followed was barely believable. Two brief rain interruptions stopped play — the first of which saw India ahead by two runs on Duckworth-Lewis and the second put India behind by two runs on D/L method. When players returned, Bopara and Graeme Swann scored at a brisk pace to keep the run-rate under control.
Once again, when India tried to get up, something has pushed them back, though this time it's not the injuries, but the rain.
