New Delhi: Krishnamachari Srikkanth will continue as the chairman of selectors of the Indian cricket team,
Four selectors out of five are expected to retain their places in the selection panel, with the only exception of Yashpal Sharma, who will be replaced by Vikram Rathore from North Zone.
Rathore was recently appointed as the coach of Punjab Ranji team.
The decision on the issue will be ratified at the BCCI's Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September 19-20.
Srikkanth, who replaced Dilip Vengsarkar as chief selector in 2008, had earlier told the BCCI that he was happy to exit after the completion of the term. Former India all-rounder and south zone selector Roger Binny was said to be the frontrunner to replace him.
Srikkanth and other his fellow selectors drew a lot of flak for the team's dismal performance in their ongoing tour of England. They were whitewashed 0-4 in the four-Test match series, thus losing their No. 1 Test ranking. They were also beaten convincingly in the one-off Twenty20 game.
Selectors were also under the scanner for not sending fully fit players on the tour. The team lost Zaheer Khan on the very first day of the tour which dented team's chances of giving any fight to the opposition team.
The five members in the selection committee are selected by the five cricket zones - North Zone, Central Zone, West Zone, East Zone, South Zone. One of the five members is selected by BCCI as the Chairman of the selection committee.
