Southampton: Batting of 23-year-old Ajinkya Rahane has been one of the few positives India have derived so far in the limited-over (Twenty20 and ODIs) series.
After hitting a fluent 61 in a lone T20 game in Manchester, the Mumbai batsman kept up the good work in the first two ODIs of the five-match series.
Rahane hit a sparkling 40 in the first ODI which was abandoned due to rain, while he brought up his maiden fifty in the game at Southampton, which too was curtailed to 23-over-a-side contest due to inclement weather.
Only five Indian batsmen – Navjot Sidhu, Gagan Khoda, Sandeep Patil, WV Raman and Robin Uthappa - have aggregated more runs than Rahane in first two ODIs. The other statistical highlights of the match on Tuesday are:
-India have now lost both their ODIs to England at this venue - by 104 runs on August 21, 2007 and by 7 wickets on September 6, 2011.
-Of the seven ODIs played at this venue, England have won five and lost only two.
