Gambhir to bat despite 'mild' concussion
London: Indian opening batman Gautam Gambhir will be fit to bat against England at The Oval on Sunday after recovering from the mild concussion he sustained while dropping a catch.
Gambhir hit his head on the ground on Friday when he dropped Kevin Pietersen, who went on to make 175 in a 350-run partnership with Ian Bell.
Team manager Anirudh Chaudhry said, "Gautam Gambhir had a mild concussion when he hit the ground while attempting to catch a ball on Friday.
"As he was continuing to feel uncomfortable on Saturday morning, he was sent for a precautionary scan. The medical examination is underway."
Gambhir did not field on Saturday's third day and was replaced by Virat Kholi. In his absence Rahul Dravid opened the Indian innings with Virender Sehwag.
