Bradshaw steps down as MCC's chief executive

London: The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has launched a search for a new chief executive following Keith Bradshaw's surprise resignation on Wednesday after five years in the job.
Bradshaw resigned citing family reasons and will return home to Australia later this year. The MCC will appoint an international firm of executive headhunters to recruit a new chief executive. MCC's deputy chief executive Colin Maynard will serve as acting secretary.

"It has been an honour privilege to work for MCC and the club is in very good order. I am proud of what I have achieved and feel sad for leaving as I hoped to stay a period of time," Bradshaw was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.
"But I have to be close to my brother. It is a life decision and I am stepping up to take on my personal responsibility. I am very grateful for the support I have had and friendship I have made and will miss what I have here," he said.
Bradshaw, who played first-class cricket for Tasmania, moved to England in 2006 and during his five-year stint at Lord's played a key role in modernising the club's image and business.
He was also instrumental in expanding the Lord's brand, promoted the Spirit of Cricket initiative and built close links with the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He had difficult relationship with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) but gradually it improved in recent months and the ground is now guaranteed two Test matches every summer.
Bradshaw also overcame bone cancer three years ago but recently had to return to Australia during the Test series against Sri Lanka following the sudden death of his mother.
"From his first day as secretary and chief executive, Keith has been a breath of fresh air at Lord's and he has made an outstanding contribution towards the high standing and role of the club both domestically and internationally," Christopher Martin-Jenkins, president of the MCC, was quoted as saying by the daily.
"His open and positive attitude has been infectious to all those around him and he can be very proud of his numerous achievements at MCC," he said.
