4th Test: India reeling at 103/5 at end of Day 3

4th Test: India reeling at 103/5 at end of Day 3
London: Ian Bell brought up his maiden double hundred in Tests and Graeme Swann took 3/27 as England took a firm grip on day three of the fourth and final match against India at the Oval on Saturday.
At stumps India were 103/5, and still trail England by 488 runs after the hosts declared their innings at 591/6.
Rahul Dravid who opened the innings in the absence of Gautam Gambhir fought a lone battle for his team yet again.
Gambhir hit his head on the ground on Friday when he dropped Kevin Pietersen and has been diagnosed with a mild concussion.
Dravid scored his 61st Test fity and was unbeaten on 57 with skipper MS Dhoni on five at the other end in an extended post tea session.
Swann got the wickets of Sachin Tendulkar (23), Suresh Raina (0) and Ishant Sharma (1) in the final session of play after James Anderson and Stuart Broad had reduced the visitors to 13/2 in four overs.
After a heavy downpour washed out the entire post lunch session, Andrew Strauss decided that he had enough runs on the board to have a go at the Indian batsmen.
Virender Sehwag's horror run on the tour continued when he was trapped leg before wicket by Anderson for just eight. India lost their second wicket when VVS Laxman (2) was caught behind by England wicketkeeper Matt Prior off the bowling of Broad.
Dravid and Tendulkar then put on 55 runs for the third wicket before Swann had the little master caught by Anderson to pick up his first wicket of the innings.
Swann then had Raina who faced 29 balls without opening his account stumped by Prior before having Ishant caught at forward short leg by Alastair Cook.
Earlier, the hosts were 591/6 at lunch with Ravi Bopara unbeaten on 44 and wicketkeeper Prior giving him company on 18.
Bell's marathon innings finally came to an end when he was dismissed by part time spinner Raina for 235.
Bell was given out leg before wicket by umpire Simon Taufel after he failed to connect with an attempted sweep shot.
S Sreesanth got the wickets of night-watchman Anderson (13) and Eoin Morgan (1) early on to leave the hosts five down.
While Anderson was caught by Laxman at second slip, Morgan offered a simple catch to Dhoni behind the stumps.
Like many similar instances in the series, India lost the plot once again when their bowlers let the England batsmen off the hook on the second day.
After keeping things under control in the first session, the Indian bowlers erred in their line and lengths after lunch and gave Bell and Kevin Pietersen a chance to cut loose, which they accepted gleefully.
Before being dismissed at the fag end of the day, Pietersen had already smashed 175 while Bell was still batting on 181 with Anderson on three
