We are raring to go against India: Broad
London: England fast-bowler Stuart Broad said his side will hit the ground running when they face India in the first Test at Lord's on Thursday.
In his column for the Daily Mail, Broad said England have plans for every Indian batsman and are raring to go for the upcoming contest.
"We will have very clear plans for all their batsmen and we will try to hit the ground running, as we do in all series," said Broad.
Terming the India series as huge, the 25-year-old pacer is relishing the idea of bowling to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and other big names in the Indian camp.
"This is a huge series and we're very excited about it. You play international cricket to pit yourself against people such as Sachin Tendulkar and the other greats," said the England Twenty20 skipper.
Broad denied the idea that under preparedness of some of the Indian players will be of any effect once the match gets underway.
"I don't think their lack of preparation will be a big factor," said Broad.
Broad also brushed aside the fears that the presence of Duncan Fletcher, the present Indian and the former England coach, will give their opponents any advantage.
"I don't think the presence of Duncan Fletcher in the India dressing room will be significant," Broad said adding, "Not too many of us have played a great deal of cricket under Fletch."
The lanky pacer, whose spot in the opening Test of the four-match series is under threat, said he is desperate to play the Lord's Test, especially after finding his rhythm back while playing for Nottinghamshire against Somerset in the County Championship last week.
"I won't know for sure if I'm playing until the morning but of course it goes without saying that I desperately want to play and I think I deserve to retain my place," said Broad.
While playing in the Championship, Broad bowled 55 overs in all and got a five-for for his effort.
Broad also said he is optimistic about his chances to retain a place for the Lord's Test.
"I'll be ready to go on Thursday. I have no doubts about my ability to do the job for England," said the England Twenty20 skipper.
