New Delhi: Landing a counterpunch to BCCI secretary N Srinivasan, Lalit Modi lashed out at the incoming Board President over his remarks that the former IPL commissioner alone cannot blamed for the IPL lapses.
A couple of days after a news report in the Times of India newspaper revealed that BCCI secretary Srinivasan admitted to a parliamentary committee that Modi alone can't be blamed for all lapses, the former IPL commissioner hit back through a blog on his website saying the BCCI, especially Srinivasan, who is the incoming president, must resign immediately for what he calls unsubstantiated allegations.
"To claim it as their only defence means their collective incompetence is surely proven and I challenge them to resign en-bloc. Over the past 18 months, I have consistently maintained that the BCCI have had full and unadulterated knowledge of the facts," Modi added.
Srinivasan stated: "We were taken for a ride. I know we cannot plead before you that we did not know all this was happening. Your question would be, were you not vigilant? What did you do? I am sorry, sir, there is no defence for me. No defence in front of you. So, I am not pleading that at all. We just put our heads down."
