Royal Challengers hoping to end trophy drought in CLT20

New Delhi: The Royal Challengers Bangalore will go into the Champions League T20 this season with a rather strong 15-member side, with the batting being their strongest suite.
The tournament starts in Bengaluru on Friday 23 September with a Group B clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Warriors at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the second time that the venue has hosted the CLT20 opener.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is the only team to have qualified for the past three tournament while their opponent was the surprise of last year's event, using its home ground advantage in Port Elizabeth to great effect in the group stage on their way to the Final.
As compared to all other Indian teams Challengers have been one of the more consistent teams in the last two years. Only two notable players have returned with the list of iconic discards including Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis and Kevin Pietersen to name just three.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have had issues with their bowling in the past and will surely miss Zaheer Khan who is already out injured due the hamstring injury. Dirk Nannes and Abhimanyu Mithun have to be on the top of their game in this tournament. Daniel Vettori is the only noteworthy slow-bowling specialist and that can add to the worry of the RCB.
The key member of the team will be Virat Kohli, he was the only big gun retained by Bangalore between seasons, which shows just how highly they rate the 22-year-old. Having come of age on the international scene over the past 12 months, Kohli will be expected to play a major role in the Royal Challengers' top order, while he is also sure to make a telling contribution with his athleticism in the field.
Royal Challengers Bangalore squad: Mayank Agarwal, Raju Bhatkal, S Aravind, Tillakaratne Dilshan, AB de Villiers, Arun Karthik, Chris Gayle, Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, J Syed Mohammed, Abhimanyu Mithun, Dirk Nannes, Asad Pathan, Saurabh Tiwary Daniel Vettori
