CSA President files case alleging corruption

Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa president Mtutuzeli Nyoka has filed a criminal case alleging corruption within the board over "irregular" IPL bonuses paid to CEO Gerald Majola and other CSA staff three years ago.
"The case has already been launched under the Prevention of Corruption Act - it's with the (elite investigative unit of the South African Police) the Hawks,"

Majola initially repaid the IPL bonus, which he failed to declare to the board and received in addition to his CSA bonus for hosting IPL II in South Africa because of security concerns in India during the elections there, but got it back later.
In a first, an independent inquiry called for by Nyoka was turned into an internal one after he was dismissed in absentia.
Following a High Court ruling ordering his reinstatement, Nyoka reinstituted the independent inquiry in which leaked reports showed audit firm KPMG found Majola as being in breach of the Companies Act.
But a board meeting at which Nyoka was absent gave Majola a serious reprimand and again let him off the hook.
CSA said after that meeting that it considered the matter closed, but refused to make public the full KPMG report and the advice on it by an advocate.
Nyoka's attempts to get those documents have, according to his lawyer, been repeatedly thwarted, while CSA on Thursday issued a statement in which it said it "condemned" Nyoka's moves to reopen the matter after it had already decided on it.
