Australia against declared they went win match in 2nd test srilanka

Pallekele: Australia have declared on their overnight score of 411-7, giving them a lead of 237 runs with two days left to play in the second Test. However, their hopes of pulling off a win may depend on the weather when play resumes early on the fourth day on Sunday, with rain offering Sri Lanka faint hopes of salvaging a draw.
Just 40.3 overs were bowled on the third day, as heavy showers washed out play soon after lunch at the Pallekele International Stadium on Saturday. By then, the tourists had reached 411-7 in their first innings, after Shaun Marsh made 141 on debut and Michael Hussey 142.
Earlier on Saturday, Michael Hussey hit a 14th Test century and debutant Shaun Marsh his maiden ton to put Australia in such a commanding position.
The two left-handers put on 258 for the fourth wicket, before Sri Lanka fought back with three quick wickets after lunch.
"The weather is not great at the moment, but we can't worry about it," he added. "We've just got to worry about what we can do, play some good cricket and get ourselves in a winning position."
Son of former Australia Test opener Geoff, Marsh had come into the Test side in place of former captain Ricky Ponting, who had to return home after Galle for the birth of his second child.from September 16.
As Australia piled up the runs, Sri Lanka rued the absence of their two first-choice spinners, Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Herath, who were forced to miss the match with injuries.
Weather permitting, Australia, who won the first Test in Galle by 125 runs, will now be hoping to clinch the three-match series, their first in Sri Lanka since 2004.
